Those Who Live Local To A Masjid But Cannot Hear The Adhān

Sheikh ’AbdulKhāliq Al-’Imād ḥafidhahullāh said: “If the distance is close and the adhān can be heard -if it were allowed to be called out loud- [then attendance is obligatory]... What matters is the ability/capacity to hear it if it was allowed [to be called out loud] and not the condition of the person. For example, if someone was in the masjid, and while the mu'adhin was calling the adhān the microphone turned off, he cannot excuse himself and say that he didn't hear the adhān while he knows the prayer times, yet he doesn't attend on the pretext that he couldn't hear the adhān. But rather, he must attend the congregation. As long as a person has a timetable and knows when the time has entered, he must attend the congregational prayers. May Allāh bless you. Because the normal voice can be heard at a distance -without the noise of traffic and the like-, so what if it was closer than that?!
