Question: In the case of a Muslim man who marries a Kitābiyyah (Jewish/Christian woman), is there a possibility that she takes the same ruling as Al-Jallālah? I

Sheikh Muḥammad Al-’Ansi ḥafidhahullāh: “The people of knowledge have not mentioned this, although this is something which they (Ahlul-Kitāb) see to be lawful - even though Allāh forbids it. They believe that pork is permissible, just as they believe that drinking alcohol is permissible. This is why the scholars mention under the rulings related to marrying a Kitābiyyah, that the husband has no right to prevent her from everything [which Muslims believe to be ḥarām], but only those things which harm him or cause him disrepute. But he has no right to prevent her from things which are confined to herself, because Allāh Almighty permitted marrying women from Ahlul-Kitāb despite what they have with them of disbelief, lack of monotheism, disbelief in the Messenger of Allāh, and perhaps she even says, “Jesus is the son of God,” but despite all that, she remains permissible, i.e. It's permissible to marry her. However, the believing, Muslim woman is better than her; she is better than this Kitābiyyah, even if she is permissible. So the Muslim should not seek to marry a Kitābiyyah while there's a righteous Muslim woman available; a Muslimah who has what that one has and even more. Perhaps some people desire beauty, Al-ḥamdu lillāh, there are plenty of beautiful Muslim women, who possess more beauty than the non-Muslim women, and they have more integrity, more awareness of the rights of the husband, compliance with the husband in matters of monotheism, belief, and methodology; a great deal of good. But it is not said that marrying a Kitābiyyah is forbidden. Whatever the case, may Allāh protect you all, the issue of her becoming Jallālah is not something which the people of knowledge have mentioned, and Allāh knows best.
