Pertaining to the announcement being circulated on social media about fasting a particular day in solidarity with those suffering in Gaza, then this is not legislated.
It falls contrary to the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ. Rather, what's required is to make du’ā - especially during times when du’ā is likely to be answered.
Whoever is in the habit of fasting voluntarily may continue fasting, and they should supplicate to Allāh ﷻ.
As for fasting in the manner that was announced, then this is from the newly innovated matters, and our brothers and sisters in Gaza will not be granted victory through such matters which fall contrary to the Prophet's guidance. Rather, circulating the likes of these announcements and fasting in this manner will not be accepted by Allāh; just as the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever does an act which we have given no authority for, will have it rejected.”
We ask Allāh to grant victory to our brothers in Gaza and to foil the plots of the oppressive Jews.
