Allah has blessed me with a baby girl. I ask Allah to make her a righteous member of the Ummah of Muḥammad ﷺ.
On this joyous occasion, I'd like to remind myself and the readers of 10 recommended practices for such an occasion:
1⃣. Thank Allāh
{ وَإِذۡ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمۡ لَئن شَكَرۡتُمۡ لَأَزِیدَنَّكُمۡ}
“If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more.” [Sūrah Ibrāhīm: 7]
2⃣. Look after your wife
The Prophet ﷺ said:
((خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لأَهْلِهِ وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لأَهْلِي))
“The best of you is the best to his wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.”
3⃣. Perform Taḥnīk for the child

4⃣. Make Du’ā for the child
{وَإِنِّیۤ أُعِیذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّیَّتَهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِیمِ}
“and I seek Your protection for her and her offspring from Satan, the accursed.”
[Surah Āli-ʿImrān: 36]

5⃣. Proclaim the blessing, especially to those who need to know
﴿وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ﴾
“And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.” [Sūrah Aḍ-Ḍuḥā: 11]
As-Si’di raḥimahullāh commented: “That is: Make it a reason to praise Allāh, and mention/inform others of specific blessings if there's a benefit in doing so.”
6⃣. Choose an intelligent wet nurse (if possible)

* if you live in a Kafir country, you should avoid circumcising girls as this may land you in trouble with the authorities
____

3⃣. It's an innovated practice to place a Muṣ-ḥaf by the newborn's head when asleep
4⃣. It's Shirk to tie strings on the neck, hands and feet of the newborn as a means of protection
5⃣. Promote love between children rather than envy and jealousy, so don't abandon your other children in favour of your newborn.
