Sheikh Nawwaas hafidhahullah said:

The most important thing is steadfastness. We love those who are steadfast. As for abundance of knowledge, then we do not like abundance of knowledge if it comes with shakiness. Rather we saw from our mashaayekh that they love the steadfast ones. This is the one who benefits, even if he does not possess a great deal of knowledge, he still benefits the people. As for the one who is shaky, you fear for him; you fear that he goes back and misleads the people or he leads them to doubts. So you are afraid for him as well as the people he goes to. And the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم says, “The best of you is he whose goodness is hoped for and whose evil people are safe from, and the worst of you is he whose good is not hoped for and whose evil people are unsafe from.” If you see someone who is steadfast, while hoping from him goodness and feeling safe from his evil, then this is the best of people, as per the statement of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
