Part 3: Supplementary Fatwas from various scholars regarding Jam'iyyaat 1⃣. Sheikh Muqbil rahimahullah said: “Leaving off Jam'iyyaat is preferred to its existence, because the Prophet ﷺ and his companions were more in need of money compared to us. In fact, they were severely in need of money, but in spite of that they did not setup a Jam'iyyah. Therefore, leaving it off is better than its existence. And the best guidance is the guidance of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. [Transcribed from the tape “Al-Ghaarah Sadeedah” Side A] 2⃣. Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzaan hafidhahullah said: “Splitting and dividing into groups or Jam'iyyaat is from the affairs which our religion has prohibited. Our religion demands from us that we refrain from differing and opposing one another in ideas; because this differing away the Da'wah efforts. So it is incumbent upon us to be one [united] group upon the manhaj of Islam and the sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ. This is the duty of the Muslims.” [Al-Muntaqa Page 22 Chapter 45] 3⃣. Sheikh Albani rahimahullah holds the opinion that it is prohibited to set up Jam'iyyaat because they deposit their wealth in interest based banks. [Silsilah Huda wa Noor tape no. 590] 4⃣. Sheikh Saalih Aal Ash-Shaykh hafidhahulah said: “Verily some groups come together under an organisation, and they use as proof statements of Sheikhul Islaam and other than him from the people of knowledge, while [in reality] they did not understand [these statements]; for verily Shaykhul Islam rahimahullah used the term organisation, however he did not intend [setting up] an actual organisation, because these organisations are newly invented organisations, meaning selecting a leader for a party who is obeyed and those who are under him report to him what is taking place, similar to the obedience owed to the leader [of the Muslims]. This without any doubt is permissible and the speech of Shaykhul Islaam and others do not indicate [the permissibility of] this.” [Sharhu Masaa’il Al-Jaahiliyah, tape number five, side B] 5⃣. On the 20th of Ramadhan of the year (1433), Sheikh Rabee' waffaqahullah was asked: Are Jam'iyyaat from the issues concerning which differing is allowed, such that the one who sees it to be permissible is excused. Shaikh Rabee': And is it permissible to differ over innovations and deviances? Questioner: No. Shaikh Rabee': Khalaas (enough). It [setting up charity organisations] is an innovation and from following the kuffar. It contains many great harms that no one knows them except Allah ('azza wa jall), and verily it divides the muslims.” [Link: http://aloloom.net/listen.php?actn=fatawa&id=297] When asked about Da'wah organisations, Shaikh Rabee’ waffaqahullah said: “By Allah! we say: every good lies in following the Salaf (the pious predecessors), and every evil lies in following the Khalaf (the later generations). For verily the Salaf spread the religion and conquered the Dunya by co-operating upon righteousness and piety. They used to co-operate by struggling with their wealth and themselves, but not through the organisational methods taken from the west.” He also said: “Thereafter Hizbiyyah overcame them and allegiance and dis-allegiance was formed according to their Jam'iyyah, and it (Jam'iyyaat) are from the reasons for the splitting of Salafis in many countries.” He also said: “So I advise the scholars and the students of knowledge to return to the biographies of the nobility of the Salaf, and let them beware that eagerness to seek money is from the most severe of dangers upon Ad-Da’wah Salafiyyah. And the proof for that is that the current fitnah [of Abul Hasan Al-Ma'ribi] was sparked by money; when, may Allah bless you, some people started stretching their hands out to this Jam’iyyah and that Jam’iyyah. So we seek refuge with Allah from the fitnah of money.” [source: http://www.aloloom.net/vb/archive/index.php?t-2520.html]
