[POINT 4] - From the contraventions of Jam'iyyaat is Tasweer (picture-making). You find them engaging in Tasweer on the pretext that this is something necessary

[POINT 5] - This method leads people to exaggeration and acts of thievery. You will find them claiming achievements and acts of generosity that do not belong to them. For example, on the day of sacrifice ('Eid Al-Adha) they buy a goat and sacrifice it in an open area like everyone else, then after videoing their own sacrificial animal, they begin recording other people's sacrificial animals and presenting that to the public as though all of these sacrificial animals belonged to them. Another example: they buy packs of milk or other foodstuffs and then take pictures of themselves while distributing these packs, but only some is distributed, as the rest is sold to profit the Jam'iyyah.
[POINT 6] - Jam'iyyaat accustoms it's members to begging, whereas the Prophet ﷺ said:
((لأَنْ يَحْتَطِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ حُزْمَةً عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ أَحَدًا، فَيُعْطِيَهُ أَوْ يَمْنَعَهُ))
“It is better that one of you cuts a bundle of wood and carries it over his back rather than ask someone who may or may not give him.” [Bukhari 2074]
The same goes whether you are asking for yourself or other than yourself. The Prophet ﷺ never took this approach.
And the incident involving the impoverished group from Mudhar cannot be used as evidence to support this approach. The group had no clothes to cover their 'Awrah, which is why he ﷺ encouraged people to support them, and this occurred without setting up a donation box or establishing a Jam'iyyah, and without collecting and storing funds and distributing it in the manner we see today.
[T.N. “Abu Al-Hussein Zuhair ibn Abi Zuhair said to [Imam] Ahmad: 'so-and so, i.e. Abu Yusuf (Al-Ghassooli), has given himself to [collecting funds for charitable causes such as] building workshops, masaajid, digging wells.' So Ahmad said: 'No, no, his honour is more dear than that.' He disliked for a man to give his self and honour for this.” (Al-Aadaab Ash-Shar'iyyah 2/172). So look how Imam Ahmad disliked for one to busy himself with collecting money for such charitable projects; this is due to the humiliation that comes as a result of asking people. Taken from Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Hammadi's treatise, 'At-Tuhfah', pg. 20]
[POINT 7] - Jam'iyyaat leads to biased fanaticism (Ta'assub) and Partisanship (Hizbiyyah). How so? The Jami'iyyah has its members (chairman, trustees, volunteers, donors, supporters, etc), if one condemns/criticises them for their contraventions, they will say, 'this person is not with us, so leave him to one side, and don't give him anything', even if he is a more worthy recipient of charity. So anyone who is with them they give to them, and anyone who opposes them is prevented. Thus in this way, it becomes a Jami'iyyah that comprises hizbiyyah, assembling people into groups, and consequently leading to disunity between the Muslims. These Jam'iyyaat have produced for us the likes of 'Ihyaa At-Turath' chaired by 'Abdurrahmaan 'Abdulkhaliq, as well as the Jam'iyyah of 'Abdullah As-Sabt; a sub-branch of Ihyaa At-Turath, which have caused rifts and division between many of the Du'aat and the poor and needy...”
