And now to the Fatwa of Sheikh Rabee': ﺍﻟﺴﺎﺋﻞ: ﻣﺎﺣﻜﻢ ﻭﺿﻊ ﺻﻨﺪﻭﻕ ﺍﻟﺘﺒﺮﻋﺎﺕ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻤﺴﺠﺪ؟ Questioner: What is the ruling on placing a donation box in the masjid? [Note: the questioner is from America] ﺍﻟﺸﻴﺦ: ﻫﻞ ﺍﻟﺼﻨﺪﻭﻕ ﺩﺍﺋﻤﺎ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻤﺴﺠﺪ ﺃﻭ ﻳﻮﻡ ﺍﻟﺠﻤﻌﺔ ﺃﻭ متى؟ Sheikh: Is the box always in the masjid, or on Fridays, or when? ﺍﻟﺴﺎﺋﻞ: ﺩﺍﺋﻤﺎ. Questioner: Always. ﺍﻟﺸﻴﺦ: ﻫﺬﻩ ﻃﺮﻳﻘﺔ ﺍﻟﺤﺰبيين ﻭﻟﻴﺴﺖ ﻃﺮﻳﻘﺔ ﺃﻫﻞ ﺍﻟﺴﻨﺔ، ﻭﺍﻟﺴﺆﺍﻝ ﻣﺤﺮﻡ، ﻭﻻ ﻳﺠﻮﺯ ﺇﻻ ﻓﻲ ﺣﺎﻟﺔ ﺍﻟﻀﺮﻭﺭﺓ ﺑﺎﺭﻙ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻓﻴﻜﻢ. ﺍﻟﺴﺆﺍﻝ ﺃﺻﻠﻪ ﻣﺤﺮﻡ ﻭﺍﻟﺬﻱ ﻳﻜﺜﺮ ﻣﻦ ﺍﻟﺴﺆﺍﻝ ﻳﺄﺗﻲ ﻳﻮﻡ ﺍﻟﻘﻴﺎﻣﺔ، ﻭﻟﻴﺲ على ﻭﺟﻬﻪ ﻗﻄﻌﺔ ﻟﺤﻢ. ﻓﻬﻤﺘﻢ؟؟؟ ﻓﻬﺬﻩ ﻃﺮﻳﻘﺔ ﺍﻟﺤزبيين ﺑﺎﺭﻙ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻓﻴﻜﻢ، ﻓﺎﻟﺬﻱ ﻳﺮﻳﺪ ﺃﻥ ﻳﺘﺒﺮﻉ ﻟﻠﻤﺴﺠﺪ ﺑﻼ ﺻﻨﺪﻭﻕ ﻓﻟﻴﺘﻔﻀﻞ، ﺃﻣﺎ ﺍﻟﺸﺤﺖ ﻻ، ﺣﻴﺎﻛﻢ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ. Sheikh: This is the way of the Hizbiyyeen - not the way of Ahlus Sunnah, and begging is forbidden, except in the case of necessity. May Allah bless you. The base rule is that begging is forbidden, and the one who asks frequently will come on the Day of Resurrection without any flesh on his face. Got it??? This is the way of the Hizbiyyeen, may Allah bless you. Whoever wants to donate to the masjid without the use of a donation box should do so. As for begging, then no. May Allah keep you all alive and well. It is not allowed to disgrace knowledge and the da'wah for the sake of building a masjid. When the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa 'alaa aalihi wa sallam) wanted to build a masjid, he said: “Give me a price for your property, O Banee an-Najjaar!” Meaning: so that a masjid can be built on it. They replied, "Rather, it is for Allaah and His Messenger." [5] It is possible to build a masjid with clay and bricks for about YR 100,000. And the time you waste begging could be spent constructing the masjid, working in it, and inviting the people to work with their own hands. We are in no need of wealth that disgraces knowledge and the call to Allaah, or wealth that calls to hizbiyyah or turns the masjids into places of begging! And O Allaah! How many great callers to Islam have you seen memorize the verses that encourage charity, going from masjid to masjid, (calling out): (And whatever good (wealth) you put forth for your own selves, then you will find it with Allaah, better and more greatly rewarded.) The poor individual has gone from being a caller to a beggar! And the Messenger ﷺ spoke the truth when he said: “Every nation has a trial, and the trial of my nation is money.” [Introduction to 'Dhamm Al-Mas'alah] ____ Fundraising is a Path To Hizbiyyah Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hadee al-Waadiyee rahimahullah said: “The collection of funds leads to the path of hizbiyyah, yes, the funds lead to the path of hizbiyyah.” [Citation Extract from the tape: “Questions in the Eid al-Fitr” second tape] And he said: “The first thing the people of hizbiyyah start with is collecting money. They say: 'We will make a cash collection.' Then after that comes the hizbiyyah. We seek Allah’s help from this.” [Extract from the tape: Issues of the Brothers in Sana’a and Hudaydah, Side 2] And he said: “O my brothers! These organisations (Jam’iyyat) and fund raising campaigns are from the way of hizbiyyah. Yes! Yes! the path of hizbiyyah and [from] the means leading to hizbiyyah …” [Extract from the tape: issues Bani Bakr 1421 (2000)]
