BENEFIT 56: Women are half as much as men in five matters
In his explanation on Sunan Abī Dāwūd [23/334, according to Shāmilah], Sheikh ’Abdul-Muḥsin Al-’Abbād ḥafidhahullāh said:
“... It is established in the Qur'ān and Sunnah that women are half as much as men in five matters:
▪️The first: Inheritance; the male has the same share as two females.
▪️The second: Manumission; if a man has to free two women in order to save himself from the Hellfire.
▪️The third: Witness testimony; two female witnesses are equate to one male witness.
▪️The fourth: Blood money; a woman's Diyah (blood money/ ransom) is half of a man's.
▪️The fifth: ‘Aqīqah; the boy has two sheeps slaughtered on his behalf whereas a girl has one.
In these five matters, women are half as much as the men.”
