BENEFIT 48: He has changed his stance on the issue of Taṣwīr (image making); it's now ḥalāl?!
Sheikh Muḥammad Bā Jammāl ḥafidhahullāh was asked about a person who changed his stance on Taṣwīr, so he answered:
“He has opposed the evidences. The evidences are overwhelmingly against him. He should be asked, “What is your evidence? You used to say it's ḥarām, but now you say it's permissible, so what is your evidence?”
Did revelation come down and change the ruling?‼️
Otherwise, ever since he was on the opinion that it was ḥarām, he was already aware that there are some from the people of knowledge who say that it's allowed for da'wah purposes or for the sake of commanding good and forbidding evil, SO WHAT CHANGED?
Therefore, whoever changes his stance, it must be said to him, “produce your evidence!” What is it that removes us from the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:
((كل مصور في النار))
“Every image maker is in the Hellfire.”
What removes us from his saying:
((لعن الله المصور))
“Allah has cursed the image maker.”
What removes us from his statement:
((إن أشد الناس عذابا يوم القيامة المصورون))
“The most severely punished people on the day of judgement will be the image makers.”
What removes us from his saying:
((يخرج عنق من النار يوم القيامة له عينان تبصران وأذنان تسمعان ولسان ينطق، يقول وكلت بثلاثة... وبالمصورين))
“A neck will come out of the Fire on the Day of judgment. It will have two eyes which can see, two ears which can hear, and a tongue which can speak. It will say: 'I have been entrusted with three (types of people): and from them is: the image makers.”
And his saying:
“The Angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or an image.”
You can go on mentioning evidences similar to this...What removes us from the likes of these evidences?!
Thus, these images, whether they are captured using cameras, whether they are moving or still images, whether they are 2D or 3D images...they are all images which are included in the generality of these ḥadīths, and this is the opinion of most of the reliable contemporary scholars.”
