BENEFIT 40: There's nothing comparable to Aṣ-Ṣuḥbah (Companionship)
After today's ’Aṣr class I asked Sheikh Jum’ān ḥafidhahullāh: which Umm Ad-Dardā' was superior; the elder or the younger, bearing in mind that the elder one was a Ṣaḥābiyyah raḍhiyallāhu ’anhā, whereas the younger, although not a Ṣaḥābiyyah, left behind a greater portion of knowledge?
The Sheikh answered:
«الصحبةُ لا يعدلها شيءٌ»
“Nothing can compare to Aṣ-Ṣuḥbah (Companionship) [i.e. the elder one was superior even though she left behind a lesser portion knowledge].
The Prophet ﷺ said:
((خير الناس قرني، ثم الذين يلونهم))
“The best generation is my generation (i.e. The Ṣaḥābah), then those who follow them (i.e. The Tābi’ēn)...” [end quote]
