EXPLANATION OF THE LĀMIYYAH OF IBN TAYMIYYAH (https://t.me/madrasatuna) LINE 13: وَالـنَّـارُ يَـصْـلَاهَـا الـشَّـقِـيُّ بِـحِـكْـمَـةٍ And the wretched will burn in the fire, by divine wisdom وَكَـذَا الـتَّـقِـيُّ إِلَـى الْـجِـنَـانِ سَـيَـدْخُـلُ and the pious will enter gardens of paradise 1. In this line, the author mentions the eventual outcome of people in the Hereafter, and that they will be divided into two groups: {فَرِیقࣱ فِی ٱلۡجَنَّةِ وَفَرِیقࣱ فِی ٱلسَّعِیرِ} "A group in Paradise and another in the blazing Fire." [Sūrah Ash-Shūrah 7] 2. What is the belief of Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jamā'ah with regards to heaven and Hell? BELIEF 13: ᴀʜʟᴜs sᴜɴɴᴀʜ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴘᴀʀᴀᴅɪsᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴇʟʟ ᴀʀᴇ ʙᴏᴛʜ ʀᴇᴀʟ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʀᴜᴇ, ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇʏ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴇᴇɴ ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛʟʏ ᴇxɪsᴛᴇɴᴛ. 3. This belief is proven by the Qur'ān, the Sunnah, as well as the ijmā'. As for the Qur'ān: Allāh ﷻ has informed us in many Āyāt that they (Heaven & Hell) are both existent; for example, Allāh ﷻ said: {وَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِي أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِين} "...And fear the fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers..." [Sūrat Āli-'Imrān 131] And He ﷻ said regarding Paradise: {وَسَارِعُوا إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ} "And hasten towards forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the pious." [Sūrat Āli-'Imrān 133] The word 'Prepared' in these two Āyāt is a clear evidence proving their existence. As for the Sunnah: (1) Once, while the Prophet ﷺ was offering the eclipse prayer, he was shown Hellfire and paradise; as reported by Bukhāri and Muslim in their Ṣaḥīḥ, on the authority of Ibn 'Abbās, 'Ā'ishah and others. (2) Abū Hurairah, may Allāh be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: ((تَحَاجَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ...)) "Paradise and Hell had a dispute..." [Bukhāri and Muslim] It's only possible for them to have a dispute if they already exist! (3) Likewise, Abū Hurairah reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: ((لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَالنَّارَ...)) "When Allāh created Paradise and the Fire, He sent Jibrīl to Paradise, saying: 'Look at it and at what I have prepared in it for its inhabitants.'" He ﷺ said: "So he came to it and looked at it, and at what Allāh had prepared in it. He (Jibrīl) said: 'Indeed, by your Might, none shall hear of it except that he shall enter it.' Then He gave the order for it to be surrounded with hardships. He said: 'Return to it and look at it, and at what I have prepared in it for its inhabitants.'" He ﷺ said: "So he returned to it and found it surrounded with hardships. He returned to Him and said: 'Indeed, by your Might, I fear that none shall enter it.' He ﷺ said: 'Go to the Fire and look at it and at what I have prepared in it for its inhabitants.' So he found it, one part of it riding the other. So he returned to Him and said: 'Indeed, by your Might, none shall hear of it and then enter it.' So He gave the order for it to be surrounded with desires, then He said: 'Return to it.,' so he (Jibrīl) returned to it, then he said: 'Indeed, by Your Might, I fear that none shall be saved from it except that he shall enter it." [Reported by Aḥmad, Abū Dāwūd, Tirmithi; Sheikh Muqbil mentioned this ḥadīth in his 'Ṣaḥīḥul Musnad' (1400)] Ibn Ḥajar, may Allāh have mercy on him, considered this ḥadīth as the most explicit evidence in proving the fact that Paradise and Hell are existent. As for the ijmā': Ibn Abil-'Izz [D. 792H], may Allāh have mercy on, said: «اتفق أهل السنة على أن الجنة والنار مخلوقتان موجودتان الآن، ولم يزل على ذلك أهل السنة حتى نبغت نابغة من المعتزلة والقدرية فأنكرت ذلك، وقالت: بل ينشئها الله يوم القيامة» "Ahlus Sunnah are agreed that paradise and Hellfire are both created and currently existent, and they have not ceased to hold this belief until there emerged a group from the Mu'tazilah and Qadariyyah (two deviated sects) who denied this fact...
