"On that Day, the hypocrites, both men and women, will say to the believers, ‘Wait for us! Let us have some of your light!’ They will be told, ‘Go back and look for a light.’ A wall with a door will be erected between them: inside it lies mercy, outside lies torment.
The hypocrites will call out to the believers, ‘Were we not with you?’ They will reply, ‘Yes. But you allowed yourselves to be tempted, you were hesitant, doubtful, deceived by false hopes until Allāh’s command came. And ˹so˺ the Chief Deceiver deceived you about Allāh."
[Sūrah Al-Ḥadīd 13 - 14]
4. If we reflect over the ḥadīth of Abū Sa'īd Al-khudrī (above), we realise that those who cross the Ṣirāṭ will be of three varying categories:
▪️The first: Those who will cross over safely without facing any harm at all.
▪️The second: Those who will cross over with pain, difficulty and hardship.
▪️The third: Those who will fall into the Hellfire.
5. The ease and speed at which people cross over the Ṣirāṭ varies depending on their deeds; so those who obeyed Allāh's commands and hastened to doing good deeds in this world life will have the safest and quickest passage...and so on, just as the prophet ﷺ said:
((تَجْرِي بِهِمْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ...))
"their deeds will carry them across..."
[Reported by Muslim on the authority of Abū Hurayrah and Ḥudhayfah, may Allāh be pleased with them both]
BENEFIT:
There are two types of Ṣirāṭs (paths):
▪️The first is an intangible Ṣirāṭ which exists in this worldy life, and this is the Ṣirāṭ that every prophet called his nation to; worshipping Allāh alone and submitting to His commands.
Allāh ﷻ said about this Ṣirāṭ:
{إِنَّ اللهَ رَبِّی وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ}
"Truly! Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him (Alone). This is the Straight Path."
[Sūrah Āli-'Imrān 51]
▪️The second is a physical and tangible Ṣirāṭ, and this is what we discussed in this class.
Whoever submits and holds fast to the first Ṣirāṭ will find it easy to cross over the second Ṣirāṭ, but whoever deviates from the first Ṣirāṭ will be from the unfortunate ones in the Hereafter.
May Allāh guide and us and keep us firm upon the Ṣirāṭ of this world as well as the Ṣirāṭ of the Hereafter.
