Ibnul Qayyim raḥimahullāh said: “What is established is that he ﷺ would say this opening supplication only in the night prayer.” [Zād Al-Ma’ād (1/196)]

Similarly, ’Āṣim ibn ḥumaid said: “I asked ’Ā'ishah with what did he- meaning the Prophet (ﷺ)- start Qiyam Al-Lail? She said: 'You have asked me something which no one before you has asked. The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) used to say: "Allāhu Akbar" ten times, "Al-ḥamdu-lillāh" ten times, "Subḥānallāh" ten times, "lā-ilāha-illa-llhāh" ten times, "Astaghfirullah" ten times, then he would say: ((اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَاهْدِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي وَعَافِنِي أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ ضِيقِ الْمَقَامِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ)) “O Allāh, forgive me, guide me, grant me provision and good health. I seek refuge with Allāh from the difficulty of standing on the Day of Resurrection.” [An-Nasā'ē - graded 'Ṣaḥīḥ' by Sheikh Albāni] 💡Benefit: I heard Sheikh Yaḥyā ḥafidhahullāh mention in one of the classes during Dammaj that: the Sunnah is to say the opening supplication in the first rak‘ah only; because if we were to analyse the ḥadīths describing the Prophet's night prayer, we would see that the opening supplication is only mentioned in the first rak‘ah. Also, despite the tasleems that are said in between, the night prayer is still considered as one prayer. 4⃣. Glorifying Allāh (by saying "Subḥānallāh") after reciting Āyāt related to the Glory of Allāh, supplicating after reciting Āyāt of supplication, seeking refuge with Allāh after reciting Āyāt referring to Allāh's punishment... Ḥudhaifah raḍhiyallāhu ’anhu reported that he offered the night prayer with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ one night. The Prophet ﷺ recited Baqarah, An-Nisā' and Āl-i-’Imrān all in one rak’ah, and when he recited the Āyāt which referred to the Glory of Allāh, he glorified Allāh (by saying Subḥānallāh Glory be to Allāh), and when he recited the Āyāt of supplication, he would would supplicate, and when he recited the Āyāt dealing with protection from the Lord, he sought (His) protection. [Muslim 772] An-Nawawi raḥimahullāh said: “In this is the recommendation of these matters (i.e. Glorifying Allāh, supplicating, etc.) upon every recitor, inside as well as outside the prayer, and our madh-hab (i.e. Ash-Shāf’iyyah) is that it is recommended for the imām, the one praying behind the imām, and the one who prays alone.” [Sharḥ Muslim] 🔺Note: Sheikh ’Uthaymīn raḥimahullāh mentioned that for the one praying behind the imām, they should not implement this Sunnah if the imām does not leave a gap after reciting such Āyāt, rather in his case they should only listen to the imām's recitation; because the Prophet ﷺ prevented the Ṣaḥābah from reciting anything behind him except Fātiḥah. [Fatāwā Nūr ’Ala Ad-Darb] He also said raḥimahullāh, this Sunnah should only applied in the voluntary prayer such as the night prayer. As for obligatory prayers, then it's not Sunnah to do this. [Sharḥ Al-Mumti’] 5⃣. To say the following supplication in sujood during Witr ’Ali ibn Abī Ṭālib raḍhiyallāhu ’anhu said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say at the end of his witr: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ ، وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ ، لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ ، أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ . "O Allah, I seek refuge in Your good pleasure from Your anger, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in Your mercy from Your wrath. I cannot reckon the praise due to You. You are as You have praised Yourself." [Ahmad, Tirmithi, Abu Dawud - graded 'Ṣaḥīḥ' by Sheikh Albāni in Irwā' Al-Ghalīl 430] 🔺Note: The scholars differed as to when exactly this supplication should be said; some held the view that it is to be said at the end of Witr, some said during the final Tashahhud, and some said during sujood; and this last view is supported by the following ḥadīth:
