Question: During Tahajjud prayer (qiyam) towards the end of Ramaḍhān, we observe the imam prolonging the rukū’, sujūd, and sitting between the two sujūds. What should the worshipper say during these periods? Answer: During the rukū’, one should increase in glorifying Allah (Exalted is He) and repeatedly say سبحان ربي العظيم (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great) or similar phrases that express the glorification of Allah. During sujūd, one should make abundant supplications, for the Prophet ﷺ said, "As for the bowing, glorify the Lord in it, and as for the prostration, increase in supplication, for it is more likely that your supplication will be answered." Similarly, during the sitting between the two prostrations, supplications should also be repeated. Source: Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen from Fatawa Nur 'ala al-Darb. _ Question: If a person finishes reciting Al-Fatiha and another Sūrah during a silent prayer, and the imam has not yet bowed, should the worshipper remain silent? Answer: The worshipper should not remain silent if they finish reciting Al-Fatiha and another Sūrah before the imam bows. Rather, they should continue to recite until the imam bows, even if it is in the two units of prayer after the first tashahhud. If they have completed Al-Fatiha and the imam has not yet bowed, they should recite another Sūrah until the imam bows. There is no silence during the prayer except when the worshipper is listening to the imam's recitation.
