The Prophet ﷺ said:

((إِنَّهَا لَا تَصِيدُ صَيْدًا، وَلَا تَنْكَأُ عَدُوًّا، وَلَكِنَّهَا تَكْسِرُ اَلسِّنَّ، وَتَفْقَأُ اَلْعَيْنَ)) “It does not kill the prey, nor does it defeat the enemy, but it may break a tooth or gouge out an eye.” [Reported by Bukhāri & Muslim from the ḥadīth of ’Abdullāh ibn Mughaffal raḍhiyallāhu ’anhu] This ḥadīth applies to slingshots, pellet guns, paintballing, and similar apparatuses.
