15. It's recommended to remain silent during the ’Eid Khuṭbah, but if there's a need to mention something, you can do so quietly without disturbing others. 16. If no Khuṭbah is established because there's no competent Khaṭīb, there's no sin upon them, because the 'Eid Khuṭbah is not obligatory - rather it's a highly encouraged. 17. During the Khuṭbah the khaṭīb stands on the ground facing the people without using a pulpit. Abū Sa‘ēd Al-Khudri raḍhiyallāhu ’anhu said: “he ﷺ stood in front of the people, while the people were seated in their rows.” [Bukhāri & Muslim] There's no evidence to prove that he ﷺ stood on a pulpit during the ’Eid khuṭbah, unlike the rain prayer, where they bring out the pulpit to the Muṣallā. This proves that he ﷺ purposely left off using the pulpit during the 'Eid khuṭbah. 18. Some have said that the Khaṭīb should make takbīr during the khuṭbah, but there's no authentic evidence to prove this. There's a ḥadīth which states that the Prophet ﷺ used to say takbīr during the khuṭbah, but what's correct is that this ḥadīth is weak. Therefore, it's better to avoid this. 19. The ’Eid Khuṭbah consists of one sermon, unlike the Friday Khuṭbah which consists of two parts. It has not come from Prophet ﷺ that he ever gave two sermons for ’Eid. There's a ḥadīth reported by Ibn Mājah on the authority of Jābir, that the Prophet ﷺ delivered a two part sermon on ’Eid. However, in the chain of narrator is a weak narrator by the name of Ismā’ēl Al-Makki. Similarly, another ḥadīth has come, reported by Al-Bazzār on the authority of Sa’d ibn Abī Waqqās with a different chain of narration, but this chain is also weak due to (matrūk) narrator known as ’Abdullāh ibn Shabīb. Moreover, the Prophet ﷺ came to the women and admonished them because he thought that they couldn't hear him. Thus, it's better limit the ’Eid khuṭbah to only one sermon. Sheikh Albāni, Sheikh ’Uthaymīn and Sheikh Muqbil are among those who held the view that the 'Eid Khutbah consists of only one sermon. 20. The Khuṭbah should address issues that concern the people; the most important of which is calling them to Tawḥīd and warning them against Shirk and innovations. They also be warned against imitating the disbelievers, and against fitnah in a general sense. The Khuṭbah should be general so that everyone takes benefit. He should also remind them about the importance of prayer and the dangers of abandoning it because many lay people will be in attendance - especially those who don't pray except Fridays and ’Eid. 21. As mentioned previously, there are no voluntary prayers to be offered, neither before, nor after the ’Eid Ṣalāh. ’Abdullāh ibn ’Abbās narrated that the Prophet ﷺ offered ('Eid Ṣalāh as) two rak’ahs, without praying anything else before, nor after it. [Bukhāri& Muslim] However, if someone wishes to observe Ḍhuha prayer afterwards, this is permissible.
