𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (3)

Zainab bint Jahsh narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) came to her in a state of fear saying, “None has the right to be worshiped except Allah! Woe to the Arabs because of evil that has come near. Today a hole has been made in the wall of Ya'jooj and Ma'jooj as large as this.” pointing with two of his fingers making a circle. Zainab said, “O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Shall we be destroyed though amongst us there are pious people?” He said: نَعَمْ، إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ “Yes, if evil increases.” [Bukhāri & Muslim] An-Nawawi rahimahullah explained: «ومعنى الحديث: أن الخبث إذا كثر فقد يحصل الهلاك العام، وإن كان هناك صالحون». “The hadith means: If evil becomes widespread, it may lead to a global disaster, even if there are righteous people (in their midst).” Examples of such widespread evils (aside from Shirk and innovation): - consuming drugs & alcohol - haraam earnings - homosexuality - fornication & adultery - involvement in riba; many (if not all) “buy now pay later” deals involve ribaa - imitating the Kuffār in appearance & character We need to fix ourselves and help others fix themselves by commanding good and forbidding evil.
