كَالْمُسْتَجِيرِ مِنَ الرَّمْضَاءِ بِالنَّارِ (Like one who jumps) out of the frying pan into the fire. This proverb is used to describe someone who removes one difficulty or danger for another which they think is safer and easier, but they discover that it is more difficult and more dangerous than the previous one. Keywords: ▪️الْمُسْتَجِير = one who seeks refuge ▪️الرَّمْضَاء = (رمض comes from) referring to the scorchedness of something, especially of the ground due to excessive heat. Example: {وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ فَإِذَاۤ أُوذِیَ فِی ٱللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتۡنَةَ ٱلنَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ} “There are some who say, ‘We believe in Allah,’ but when they suffer for His cause, they think that human persecution is as severe as Allah’s punishment.” [Surah Al-`Ankabût: 10] Sheikh Fawzān ḥafidahullah commented on this Āyah saying: “He flees from being persecuted by Allah's enemies by abandoning his religion, but instead he runs into Allah's punishment; فاستجار من الرمضاء بالنار“.
