▪️Firstly, I am glad 'Madrasatuna' has reached you, and I hope and pray that you are benefitting from the content. If you are, then know that -after the Grace and Bounty of Allāh- the credit for much of what is shared on 'Madrasatuna' is owed to Sheikh Yahya and his students - may Allāh preserve them and reward them all with the best of rewards.
▪️Secondly, it would have been much better if you wrote your enquiry/advice without any insult & cursing, because this is not the way of the Salaf! In fact, this overzelous attitude is what pushes people away from Salafiyyah.
Anas ibn Malik raḍhiyallāhu anhu said:
“The Prophet (ﷺ) was not one who would abuse (others) or use obscene words, or curse (others).”
[Sahih al-Bukhari, 6031]
Similarly, when the Bedouin entered and urinated in the Masjid and the people rushed to him and began insulting him. The Prophet (ﷺ) stopped them and reminded them that:
((إِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُمْ مُيَسِّرِينَ وَلَمْ تُبْعَثُوا مُعَسِّرِينَ))
“You have been sent to make things easy (for the people), and you have not been sent to make things difficult for them.”
[Jami’ at-Tirmidhi, 147]
So don't let your emotions get the better of you, but be just and maintain justice at all times - even with your enemy, as Allah ﷻ said:
{وَلَا یَجۡرِمَنَّكُمۡ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوۡمٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَلَّا تَعۡدِلُوا۟ۚ ٱعۡدِلُوا۟ هُوَ أَقۡرَبُ لِلتَّقۡوَىٰ}
“Let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety.”
[Surah Al-Mâ'idah: 8]
It is not the first time Sheikh Yahya has been insulted with such insults. I have heard worse insults; 'Iblees of Yemen' amongst others. So it is not surprising to come across these insults every now and then. But what I find surprising is how he is expected to suffer in silence and not retaliate whatsoever; Because whenever he retaliates with its like, his responses are taken out of context, compiled together and spread around to portray him as the vile, sharp-tongued aggressor, even though he is within his rights to retaliate with its like, as Allah said:
{لَّا یُحِبُّ اللهُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ بِٱلسُّوۤءِ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ إِلَّا مَن ظُلِمَۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ سَمِیعًا عَلِیمًا}
“Allah does not like bad words to be made public unless someone has been wronged.”
[Surah An-Nisâ': 148]
And He ﷻ said:
{ وَإِنۡ عَاقَبۡتُمۡ فَعَاقِبُوا۟ بِمِثۡلِ مَا عُوقِبۡتُم بِهِ}
“If you retaliate, then let it be equivalent to what you have suffered.”
[Surah An-Nahl: 126]
▪️Thirdly, I want to inform you that I have researched this matter throughly Alhamdulillaah. In fact, while in Dammaj I witnessed first-hand some of the early stages of this ordeal, which began with the secret establishment of the Dhirar institute; a part of history that no one can deny/erase [https://t.me/madrasatuna/1997]
So let me summarise my findings for you:
The scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah in our time have praised Sheikh Yahya for his knowledge, truthfulness and integrity (see link https://t.me/AlHajoori/4). And nothing concrete has come to invalidate these praises, so they remain in place - even if those who uttered them have since retracted; because speech (both praise & disparagement) is only given weight in accordance to its conformity to reality.
As for the points of criticism raised against Sheikh Yahya, then they fall into one of 6 categories:
The first category:
Sheikh Yahya was criticised for matters where there is room for differing (issues of ijtihad).
Sheikhul Islām Ibn Taymiyyah raḥimahullāh says regarding these types of issues:
«إن مثل هذه المسائل الاجتهادية لا تنكر باليد، وليس لأحد أن يلزم الناس باتباعه فيها، ولكن يتكلم فيها بالحجج العلمية، فمن تبين له صحة أحد القولين: تبعه، ومن قلد أهل القول الآخر فلا إنكار عليه».
