Hereunder is some information about a Salafi centre in Kenya (written by Ridhwan)
Name:
Masjid As-Sunnah
Location:
The centre is a 3 hour drive from the capital city Nairobi. It is located in the Mount Kenya region in Laikipia county (Nanyuki).
Safety:
Locals are surrounded by the British and Kenyian army camps which makes it feel secure.
Weather:
The Equator line passes straight through the county, so the weather is hot at day and mildly cold at night. This is the case for the most part, but it rains every now and then.
About the centre:
It was established in 2015 by the noble brother Faarah Ibn Abdilqadir (Abu Usamaah) upon his return from Dammaj (Yemen). The da'wah has been active ever since its establishment, going from strength to strength, and all praises belong to Allāh. The brother teaches day and night, making sure to remain distinct from the polytheists & innovators. His students travel to different parts of the country to spread the pure, unadulterated call of Islam. The Centre has been visited by some noble scholars such as Sheikh Abu Amr Abdulkarim Al-hajoori, Sheikh Abu Muhammad Abdulkarim Al-Hasani and our noble brother Abu Atiyyah Mahmud.
Class schedule:
1. Fajr to sunrise => Qur'ān circles
2. After that, Mutoon memorisation (hadeeth, scholarly texts and poems)
3. Then the students have their breakfast.
4. Classes run from 11am - 3pm.
Sister's side:
Ustadh Faarah's wife (who also studied in Dammaj) teaches the sisters. Sister's classes run from 2pm to 4pm daily except Fridays.
* Classes are taught in Arabic & Swahili. English is also very common.
Accomodation:
There are suitable accommodation for rent close to the centre; $30 for a room (suitable for bachelors) & apartments go from $50 - $120 per month (suitable for families).
