"Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water and rain which Allāh sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving living creatures of all kinds that He has created and scattered therein, and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed proofs, evidence, signs, etc for people of understanding." al Baqarah 2: 164
Allāh makes it clear that He is the Creator of all we see and don't see and that He made the sun and moon and put them in their orbits. And it was His plan that we should also use the movements of sun and moon, to calculate our days, weeks, months and years. Allāh confirms that He it is Who made the sun an incandescent shining lamp providing light and warmth which causes the growth of all life forms. And at night the full moon is a lovely silver cooling light that brightens the darkness. Allāh says He it was who placed the stars in the sky as sign posts and guides for travellers and that He it is Who directs and drives the clouds through the sky and then orders the rain to drop, which brings forths all kinds of provisions and food for us. Allāh affirms that He created, owns, directs and manages every single aspect in the cosmos or universe we live in.
With the meaning, Allāh says, "He knows what goes into the earth as seeds and what springs forth from it in fruits and foliage. He knows what comes down from the sky in rain and what rises back up to it. He merges the day into the night and night into day. His alone is the sovereignty, control and ownership of all that exists and He knows exactly what we think within our hearts and minds." al Hadeed 57:4,5
Then He says, explaining the reason why everything exists.
"O mankind worship your Lord, the One Who created you and those before you in order that you become of the righteous and pious ones. He, Allāh, has made this earth a resting place for you and the heavens above as a canopy. He sends down from the sky, life giving rainfall which brings forth all kinds of varieties of fruits and foods in abundance as a good provision for you. So don't make any partners to share in Allāh's sole right of worship or divert yourself to any other form of belief or religion and you know well enough this is forbidden." al Baqarah 2:21,22
Allāh makes it very clear why we were created and the real purpose for our being in this world.
"And I have only created the jinn (spirits we can't see with the naked eye) and mankind, so that they can worship Me alone." adh Dhariyaat 51:56
Allāh promises to all those who single Him out alone for all their devotions, sacrifices, prayers and worship, a Paradise beyond compare after they die. Each individual here, inherits a glorious personal domain which stretches farther than the eye can see. The blessed inmates of this immaculate kingdom recline on splendid couches and thrones decorated with costly jewels and fabrics, while they are served with whatever they wish to eat or drink of the most appetising of foods and delicious drinks. They never have to answer the call of nature, no matter how much they enjoy of foods and drink and never even have to blow their noses here.
