Hijrah is like parenthood:
You will never feel nor be ready enough.
When Allah سبحانه وتعالى blesses you with the opportunity to make hijrah, take it, for it may never come again. We can't be rejecting the opportunity.
The seerah of our Prophet ﷺ demonstrates how hijrah was made without great amounts of wealth and over planning.
When making hijrah:
Expect great challenges (discrimination, loss of money, illness, crazy drivers, thievery, dogs on the street, culture shock, sense of not belonging, or even loss of life, etc) despite your planning
Expect longing for your old life
Expect sorrow and grief at leaving your family behind (as a revert and those extended members that may stay behind)
Expect language barriers
Expect Great ease from Allah
Expect to receive miraculous sustenance and aid from Allah, where and when you least expect it.
Expect to engage in one of the Highest forms of worship and gain an increase in Iman
Expect your affairs to be sorted in the best of ways by Allah, for He provides sustenance and comfort for those who seek it from Him, just like the Youth of the Cave.
Expect to do hijrah for Allah
In Allah's name Knowing you are leaving and sacrificing your well established life for the preservation of your and your family's Iman.
Hijrah by all worldly means and standards is full of risks and hardships all in the name of Allah. Expect it and expect to remain firm in your belief in Him.
Hijrah is a gift; a window of opportunity to become a better Muslim. A painful process with great reward. An emotional, physical, and spiritual demonstration of ones devotion to Allah عز وجل.
If presented with this beautiful opportunity to make hijrah, don't spend time making excuses, for there are many to make.
Instead pray for ease and success and remain patient, for Allah rewards those who are patient. There is no better example of patience and adversity than our dear Prophet ﷺ. He didn't make excuses. He made decisions and placed his trust in Allah alone.
Know that "so surely, with hardship, comes ease" (Qur'an 94:5)
May Allah protect us from the punishment of the hellfire, the punishment of the grave, the punishment of life and death, and the trials and fitna of the dajjal. Ameen
May He accept our hijrah and grant us the highest level of Jannah. May we and our loved ones be among the righteous in this life and the hereafter. Ameen
May He preserve and strengthen our Iman and place firmness in our hearts, so that we remain patient until we die as Muslims. Ameen
May He bless everyone who is seeking to make hijrah with fortitude and courage. Ameen
As a revert, there is no greater gift from Allah than Islam. Therefore I encourage everyone to strive in it's preservation and make hirah if need be.
