Hans Wehr dictionary

To be able to use this dictionary effectively, you must be able to identify the root letters of the word you intend to search. For example, if you are searching for مستشفى, you have to look under : ١. ش -> ٢.شف -> ٣. شفي That is if you are using the physical book. But if you are using the app, you would type 'شفي' in the search bar, then look for the word by scrolling through the search results. You can try to read the introduction in the app, but it doesn't make much sense tbh, so I would suggest studying Sarf Book 1 if you haven't already, or if you've completed upto Madinah book 2 - you should be okay using the app Insha'Allah. Not only is it fun tracing down new words, but it's also a good learning experience, because you will learn from your mistakes when entering wrong search entries.
