1⃣. 'The ends justify the means' is NOT an Islamic principle 2⃣. Studying in free-mixed universities is Haraam. 3⃣. There are two types of obligations: a. Individual b. Communal An Individual obligation is one which every single Muslim must fulfil, such as praying 5x a day, fasting Ramaḍhān, learning the fundamentals of the Deen, abstaining from Haraam, etc. A Communal obligation is due upon the Muslim body as a whole, if SOME people from the community fulfil this obligation that is sufficient, such as knowing to wash, shroud and pray over the deceased - this is not something that every single Muslim is required to know. 4⃣. Worldy studies, particularly those sciences which the Muslim Ummah are in need of, such as medicine, engineering, etc, comes under communal obligation 5⃣. If there is a clash between a communal obligation and an individual obligation, priority is given to fulfilling the individual obligation For example: I cannot become a doctor except through free-mixed studies, what do I do? A. Becoming a doctor (communal obligation) Vs. B. Abstaining from Free-mixing (individual obligation) Which one do I prioritise? Answer: B 6⃣. The above example refutes the infamous principle - 'the ends justify the means'
