A Benefit related to Madina Book 2

In today's class, we learnt the verb بَالَ (to urinate), so I felt it would be appropriate to share this Q&A: Sheikh 'Uthaymeen rahimahullah was asked the following question: Question: The questioner says: when some people mention the toilet, donkey, dog, or the like, they say: أعزكم الله - May Allah honor you Or أكرمكم الله - May Allah grant you nobility So what is the ruling on that? Answer: It is okay; because it is among the common practices which demonstrate good etiquette on the part of the speaker, but what I see is that it is better to leave it off. That is because the Salaf mentioned such things, yet they did not say to those being addressed: May Allah honor you, or may Allah grant you nobility. However, what is denounced is that when some people speak about women, they say: 'May Allah honor you,' and the like; this is forbidden; because women are from the children of Adam, and Allah -the Almighty and Majestic- says: {وَلَقَدۡ كَرَّمۡنَا بَنِیۤ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَرَزَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ كَثِیرࣲ مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَا تَفۡضِیلࣰا} “We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.” [Surah Al-Isrâ’: 70] So if Allah the Almighty has honored the children of Adam, (males and females) alike, how can the speaker say to the one who he is addressing: 'May Allah honor you,' when he makes mention of women? This is denounced and should not be said. [Fataawa Noor 'Alad-Darb (12/488 - 489)]
