الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم Yesterday evening, at approximately 7:45 PM, our Muslim Brothers and Sisters gathered at The Islamic Center of Oakland in order to break their fast and then pray the Maghrib Prayer at sunset. After the prayer service, some of our beloved congregants went to the store and restaurant on the corner of Telegraph and 31st Street, located near the mosque. Shortly thereafter, an unmarked car drove up fired several shots, killing two and injuring one of our brothers while they were tending to their purchases. We have never experienced anything of this nature and we are all mourning. We supplicate our Lord to have mercy on our brothers and to grant them with the highest level of Paradise and that our young brother who was injured has a speedy recovery. Likewise, we ask our Lord to bestow patience upon their loved ones and the Muslim Community as a whole. We humbly implore law enforcement and all responsible government officials from the city of Oakland, California to seek out the identity of the murderer/s and expeditiously bring them to justice.
