Ibnul Mubarak reported from Wahb ibn Munabbih, may Allah have mercy on him, that he said,
((مَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ لَهُ ضَرَّتَانِ إِنْ أَرْضَى أَحَدَهُمَا أَسْخَطَ الأخْرَى))
“The example of this world and the Hereafter is like that of a man with two wives. If he pleases one, he displeases the other.”
