EXPLANATION OF THE
LĀMIYYAH OF IBN TAYMIYYAH

LINE 7:
The author, may Allāh have mercy on him, said:
وَجَـمِـيـعُ آيَـاتِ الـصِّـفَـاتِ أُمِـرُّهَـا
And all the āyāt concerning the attributes, I affirm...
حَـقًّـا كَـمَـا نَـقَـلَ الـطِّـرَازُ الْأَوَّلُ
...in truth, just as the first generation have transmitted
1. 'I affirm in truth' (أُمِرُّهَا حَقًّا) -
meaning, I believe and affirm that the intent behind these verses is their true literal meaning - unlike the people of innovation, who claim that the intent is majāzī (figurative/ metaphorical and not literal).
2. In essence, this (majāz) is what the innovators hang onto in their attempts to negate some of the divine names and attributes of Allāh.
Imām adh-Dhahabī (D. 748 H), may Allāh have mercy on him, said: "I swear by Allāh! He who misinterprets Allāh's divine Attributes, and carries what has been narrated of them upon majāz, will eventually end up negating the Creator Himself, and comparing Him to non-existent objects..."

3. Therefore, what is obligatory is to pass on the texts in their literal sense (i.e. affirming them according to their apparent meanings); because Allāh, the Exalted, revealed the Qur'ān 'in the plain & clear Arabic language' {لسان عربي مبين} so that people can clearly understand His speech.
Allāh said:
{إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ}
"Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'ān in order that you may understand."
[Sūrat Yūsuf 2]
Similarly, His Messenger Muḥammad ﷺ - who was the most eloquent of people - addressed people in the plain & clear Arabic language.
And based on the principles of the Arabic language, it is not permissible to divert a word from its apparent meaning without proof. This fact is agreed upon by all linguists.
4. 'just as the first generation transmitted' (الطراز الأول)
linguistically, the term الطراز refers to the highest and finest form of a thing. And in this line, it refers to the elite and the finest of this Ummah; the righteous predecessors (Salaf Aṣ-Ṣāliḥ).
So the author is saying, I affirm the divine names and attributes in the exact, same manner as the Salaf Aṣ-Ṣāliḥ.
