On this 'Eid the scholars recommend that one does not eat anything until they have offered Salatul 'Eid based on the hadith of Buraidah radhiyallahu anhu who said: “the Prophet ﷺ would not go out on 'Eidul Fitr unless he ate something, and he would not eat anything on 'Eidul Adh-ha until he had offered the Eid Salah”; reported by Ahmad (5/352) - and this hadith is 'Hasan'.
