As a da'ee/teacher/caller to Islam, it's important to have some background knowledge on the people you are teaching/giving Da'wah to. This will allow you to be better prepared when it comes to countering their doubts and answering their concerns.
When the Prophet ﷺ sent Mu'adh radhiyallahu 'anhu to Yemen, the very first thing he told him was:
“You are going to the people of the book.”
[Reported by Bukhari & Muslim]
Sheikh Uthaymeen rahimahullah explained that:
“He ﷺ informed him of their condition so he would know what to expect; since the one who debates with the People of the Book must have more and much stronger evidences than the one who debates a polytheist; because the polytheist is ignorant, whereas the one who has been given the Book has knowledge. He also informed him of their condition so he would treat them according to their level and debate them in a way that is best.”
[His explanation of Riyāḍh Aṣ-Ṣāliḥīn]
