قال أبو زرعة الرازي لأبي حاتم الرازي ترفع يديك في القنوت؟ قال لا. فقال أبو حاتم فترفع أنت؟ قال نعم. فال أبو حاتم فما حجتك؟ قال حديث ابن مسعود قلت رواه ليث ابن أبي سليم قال حديث أبي هريرة قال رواه ابن لهيعة قال حديث ابن عباس قال رواه عوف قال أبو زرعة فما حجتك في تركه؟ قال حديث أنس أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان لا يرفع يديه في شيء من الدعاء إلا في الاستسقاء فسكت. Abu Zur'ah Ar-Razi asked Abu Hatim Ar-Razi, “do you raise your hands in Qunoot?” He said, “No,” So Abu Hatim asked him, “Do you raise your hands?” He said, “Yes,” Abu Hatim then asked, “What is your evidence?” He said, “The hadeeth of Ibn Mas'ud,” Abu Hatim said, “It was transmitted by Layth ibn Abi Sulaim(*),” Abu Zur'ah said, “The hadeeth of Abu Hurairah,” Abu Hatim said, “It was transmitted by ibn Lahee'ah(*),” Abu Zur'ah said, “The hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbas,” Abu Hatim said, “It was transmitted by 'Awf(*),” So Abu Zur'ah asked him, “What is your evidence for not raising your hands?” Abu Hatim said, “The hadeeth of Anas, that the Prophet ﷺ never used to raise his hands for any supplication (inside prayer) aside from the rain prayer.” Upon hearing that Abu Zur'ah became silent.
