IMPORTANT POINTS ON ZAKATUL FITR

• Zakatul Fitr is given in gratitude to Allah for the completion of Ramadhan. [Fataawa Al-Uthaymeen (18-257)] ____ • Zakatul Fitr is obligatory upon every Muslim; old and young, male and female, freeman and slave. [Fataawa Ibn Baz (14/197)] ____ • The head of the house must give Zakatul Fitr on behalf of everyone in his household; wife, children and slaves - if he has enough food for himself and all of his dependants for a day and a night. [Fataawa ibn Baz (14/ 197)] ____ • You don't have to give Zakatul Fitr on the foetus, but you can if you want to. [Fataawa Al-Uthaymeen (18/263)] ____ • Zakatul Fitr is given as one saa' per person from the common Staples of the country; dates, barley, raisins, wheat, or any other type of Staples. One Saa' is equivalent to 3 kg approximately. [Fataawa ibn Baz (14/ 203)] ____ • The time to give Zakatul Fitr starts from the 28th of Ramadhan up until 'Eid day prior to the 'Eid prayer. In this case the deadline is set according to the country of the one entrusting - not the one who is entrusted. It's also permissible for the poor to entrust someone to collect their Zakatul Fitr on their behalf.
