Is it better to recite/ listen to the Qurʿān? Sheikh Ibn Bāz raḥimahullāh said: “It is better for one to do that which will soften and affect their heart, regardless whether it is reciting or listening. The objective of reciting is to contemplate & understand the meaning, and to act in accordance to what is indicated by the Glorious Book of Allāh -The Exalted, Most High-. Allāh -The Exalted, Most High- says: {كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَیۡكَ مُبَـٰرَكࣱ لِّیَدَّبَّرُوۤا۟ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِیَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ} “(This is) a Book (the Qur'ān) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” [Sūrah Ṣād 29] And Allāh -The Exalted, Most High- says: {إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ یَهۡدِی لِلَّتِی هِیَ أَقۡوَمُ} “Verily, this Qur'ān guides to that which is most just and right...” [Sūrah Al-Isrā' 9] He -The Exalted, Most High- says: {هُوَ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ هُدࣰى وَشِفَاۤءࣱ} “It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing...” [Sūrah Fuṣṣilat 44] 📚 [Majmū’ Al-Fatāwā Ibn Bāz, Vol. 11, P. 363]
