The results of this humble survey show that 95% of you do not consider male braids to be a symbol of a devote Muslim, and rightly so!

Personally speaking:
▪️If I saw a random man walking around with braids, I would assume they're not Muslim.
▪️If I saw this same man in the masjid, praying, wearing a thawb or any other symbol of Islam, I would assume they have just embraced Islam or on the verge of doing so.
▪️If they are someone I know to be a Muslim, my assumption would be one of two:
1- if they're not practicing; they shave or shape up their beard, wear clothes below their ankles, etc., I would assume they're trying to make a fashion statement
2- If they're practicing, I would assume they're not aware of the ruling, or perhaps they've misunderstood the texts.
These assumptions are built on judging a person by what they make apparent. [See link: https://sunnah.com/bukhari:2641 ]
