فائدة طيبة: A Good benefit

سماحة الشيخ عبد العزيز بن باز رحمه الله: His Eminence, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz may Allah have mercy on him (said): دعاء الركوب إنما يستحب عند ركوب العبد للدابة، أو السيارة، أو الطائرة، أو الباخرة أو غيرها لقصد السفر. The supplication for boarding (riding beasts & vehicles) is ONLY recommended if the servant boards a riding beast, car, plane, ship, etc., FOR THE SAKE OF TRAVELLING. أما الركوب العادي في البلد أو في المصعد فلا أعلم في الأدلة الشرعية ما يدل على شرعية قراءة دعاء السفر. As for boarding (them) normally within the country (of residence) or going in the elevator, then I do not know of any evidence that indicates the legitimacy of reciting the supplication of travel. ومعلوم عند أهل العلم أن العبادات كلها توقيفية، لا يشرع منها إلا ما دل عليه الدليل من الكتاب أو السنة أو الإجماع الصحيح.
