BENEFIT 96: following one's desires is a type of SHIRK [forwarded]❗️
{أَرَءَیۡتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَـٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَیۡهِ وَكِیلًا}
“Have you seen ˹O Prophet˺ the one who has taken their own desires as their god? Will you then be a keeper over them?
[Surah Al-Furqân: 43]

Sheikh ‘Uthaymīn rahimahullah said:
“Accepting a ruling even if you don’t know the wisdom behind it, this is better. Because if a person does not accept a ruling unless he knows the wisdom behind it, this is a type of shirk, and it is worshipping one’s whims and desires. Because if a ruling is in line with his desires and he knows the wisdom behind it, he will accept it and his heart will feel at ease and he will be pleased with it. And if it is not in line with his desires he will be hesitant [in accepting it].
And whoever looks at the people today will see that the majority of them ask for the logical reasoning [of a ruling], to the point where if you tell some of them “Allah said and the Messenger said” they will say “What is the wisdom behind this?”. These people must know that, if they are believers, that they are commanded and the wisdom for them should be the statement of Allah and His messenger.
And therefore when ‘Ā’isha (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked: “Why does the menstruating woman make up her fasts but not her prayers?” And she answered by saying: “We would experience that and were commanded to make up the fasts but not the prayers”. So this is the wisdom that we answer this question with, and with this wisdom no one can object if they were a believer”
