BENEFIT 65: THE 'ARSH IS THE LARGEST CREATION
Allāh the Almighty said:
{...وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ}
“...And He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.”
[Sūrah At-Tawbah 129]
Al-Qurṭubi raḥimahullāh commented in his tafsīr:
“He (The Almighty) singled out the 'Arsh (even though He is the Lord of everything) because it is the largest creation.”
Similarly, Ibn 'Abbās radhiyallāhu 'anhu said:
“No one can comprehend how vast the Throne is except Allāh.”
[Transmitted by Adh-Dhahabi in Al-'Uluww; authenticated by Sheikh Albāni in his checking]
Abū Dharr radhiyallāhu 'anhu narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:
((ما السماوات السبع مع الكرسي إلا كحلقة ملقاة بأرض فلاة، وفضل العرش على الكرسي كفضل الفلاة على الحلقة))
“The seven heavens in relation to the Kursi is just like a ring thrown into an open land, and the vastness of the Throne in relation to the Kursi is like the vastness of the open land in relation to the ring.”
[Reported by Ibn Ḥibbān who authenticated it. Ibn Ḥajar mentioned in Fat-ḥ that it has an authentic supporting narration, transmitted by Sa'eed ibn Manṣūr in his tafsīr via Mujāhid]
These evudmeces indicate the huge size of the Throne.
