BENEFIT 53: NINETEEN TERMS WHICH MAY BE DIVIDED INTO KAWNIYYAH & SHAR'IYYAH
The following benefit was taken from our 'Aqīdatul Wāsiṭiyyah' class with Abū Zur'ah ḥafidhahullāh. The teacher referenced this benefit to Sheikhul Islām raḥimahullāh.
He ḥafidhahullāh said:
“There are 19 Islamic terms which may be divided into Kawniyyah Shar'iyyah. We will mention them along with their evidences:

1. الإِسْلَامُ - Submission
ك: {...وَلَهُۥ أَسۡلَمَ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ طَوۡعࣰا وَكَرۡهࣰا...}
“...all those in the heavens and the earth submit to His Will, willingly or unwillingly...”
[Sūrah Āl-'Imrān 83]
ش: {وَأَنِیبُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ وَأَسۡلِمُوا۟ لَهُۥ}
“Turn to your Lord ˹in repentance˺, and ˹fully˺ submit to Him...”
[Sūrah Az-Zumar 54]
2. التَّحْرِيمُ - Prohibition
ك: {وَحَرَّمۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبۡلُ...}
“And We prohibited (i.e. caused him to refuse) all wet-nurses at first...”
[Sūrah Al-Qaṣaṣ 12]
ش: {...وَأَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡبَیۡعَ وَحَرَّمَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۚ...}
“Allāh has permitted trading and prohibited interest.”
[Sūrah Al-Baqarah 275]
3. السُّجُودُ - Prostration
ك: {...یَسۡجُدُ لَهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ...}
“...to Allāh prostrate ˹in submission˺ all those in the heavens and all those on the earth...”
[Sūrah Al-Ḥajj 18]
ش: {یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱرۡكَعُوا۟ وَٱسۡجُدُوا۟ وَٱعۡبُدُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ...}
“O believers! Bow down, prostrate yourselves, worship your Lord...”
[Sūrah Al-Ḥajj 77]
4. الْإِنَابَةُ - Return
ك: {وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلنَّاسَ ضُرࣱّ دَعَوۡا۟ رَبَّهُم مُّنِیبِینَ إِلَیۡهِ...}
“When people are touched with hardship, they cry out to their Lord, turning to Him ˹alone˺...”
[Sūrah Ar-Rūm 33]
ش: {وَأَنِیبُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ...}
“Turn to your Lord ˹in repentance˺...”
[Sūrah Az-Zumar 54]
5. الْإِذْنُ - Permission
ك: {...وَمَا هُم بِضَاۤرِّینَ بِهِۦ مِنۡ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ...}
“...they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allāh...”
[Sūrah Al-Baqarah 102]
ش: {أُذِنَ لِلَّذِینَ یُقَـٰتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ ظُلِمُوا۟ۚ...}
“Permission ˹to fight back˺ is ˹hereby˺ granted to those being fought, for they have been wronged.”
[Sūrah Al-Ḥajj 39]
6. الْأَمْرُ - Command
ك: {...أَمَرۡنَا مُتۡرَفِیهَا...}
“...We command its elite...”
[Sūrah Al-Isrā' 16]
ش: {...فَلۡیَحۡذَرِ ٱلَّذِینَ یُخَالِفُونَ عَنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦۤ...}
“...So let those who disobey his command beware, for an affliction may befall them...”
[Sūrah An-Nūr 63]
7. الْكِتَابُ - Write
ك: {كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغۡلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِیۤۚ...}
“Allāh has written, 'I and My messengers will certainly prevail'...”
[Sūrah Al-Mujādilah 21]
ش: (یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَ عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلصِّیَامُ...}
“O believers! Fasting is written for you...”
[Sūrah Al-Baqarah 183]
8. الْإِرْسَالُ - Sending
ك: {أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینَ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ تَؤُزُّهُمۡ أَزࣰّا}
“Do you ˹O Prophet˺ not see that We have sent the devils against the disbelievers, constantly inciting them?”
[Sūrah Maryam 83]
ش: {هُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَرۡسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَدِینِ ٱلۡحَقِّ...}
“He is the One Who has sent His Messenger with ˹true˺ guidance and the religion of truth...”
[Sūrah At-Tawbah 33]
9. الْبَعْثُ - raise/send
ك: {فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابࣰا یَبۡحَثُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ...}
“Then Allāh sent a crow digging ˹a grave˺ in the ground...”
[Sūrah Al-Mā'idah 31]
ش: {...فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّبِیِّـۧنَ مُبَشِّرِینَ وَمُنذِرِینَ...}
“...Allāh raised prophets as deliverers of good news and as warners...”
[Sūrah Al-Baqarah 213]
10. الْعِبَادَةُ - Servitude/ Worship
ك: {إِن كُلُّ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّاۤ ءَاتِی ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَبۡدࣰا}
“There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.”
[Sūrah Maryam 93]
ش: {...فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِ...}
“So worship Him ˹alone˺, and be steadfast in His worship.”
[Sūrah Maryam 65]
