Here are 4 key differences between the two terms: 1⃣- Kawniyyah refers to all that which Allāh has decreed, whereas Shar'iyyah refers to all that which Allāh has prescribed and enjoined 2⃣- Kawniyyah refers to everything that has/will take place, whereas Shar'iyyah may/may not take place 3⃣- Allāh loves everything that falls under Shar'iyyah, whereas He may/may not necessarily love all that which falls under Kawniyyah; and whatever the case, nothing is Decreed except for a Divine wisdom 4⃣- The things which fall under Kawniyyah are not necessarily praiseworthy, nor is one rewarded for them, but the things which fall under Shar'iyyah are all Praiseworthy and a person is rewarded for them (if he is sincere).
