BENEFIT 50: A MISCONCEPTION RELATED TO SWEARING BY OTHER THAN ALLĀH It is reported from the Ḥadīth of Ṭalḥah ibn 'Ubaidillāh that the Prophet ﷺ said: ((أَفْلَحَ، وَأَبِيهِ إِنْ صَدَقَ ، أَوْ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَبِيهِ إِنْ صَدَقَ)) “He will be successful, by his father, if he speaks the truth; or (doubt from one of the narrators) he will enter Paradise, by his father, if he speaks the truth.” 📕[Muslim (11)] MISCONCEPTION: What is apparent from this is the Prophet ﷺ swore by the person's father, because he used the Wāwul Qasam (the و used to bear oath), so is this not proof to show the permissibility of swearing by other than Allāh?
