BENEFIT 48: DON'T INSULT A MUSLIM❗️
Allāh the Almighty said:
{وَٱلَّذِینَ یُؤۡذُونَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ بِغَیۡرِ مَا ٱكۡتَسَبُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱحۡتَمَلُوا۟ بُهۡتَـٰنࣰا وَإِثۡمࣰا مُّبِینࣰا}
“As for those who insult believing men and women unjustifiably, they will definitely bear the guilt of slander and blatant sin.”
[Sūrah Al-Aḥzāb 58]
As-Sa'di raḥimahullāh commented in his Tafsīr:
“For this reason, insulting a believer is something which must be punished in accordance to the status and rank of the one who is reviled. Thus the punishment for insulting the Companions is more severe, and likewise insulting the scholars and religious people is worse than insulting others.”
Insulting other Muslims is not from the character of a true Muslim:
'Abdullāh ibn 'Amr ibn Al-'ās radhiyallāhu 'anhu said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands the Muslims are safe.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
For this reason, Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb [D 128H] raḥimahullāh said:
“I don't let a brother of mine get angry with me twice, rather, I look at the affair he dislikes and abandon it.”
