BENEFIT 33: Advice for those who suffer from evil eye related wiswās (compulsive disorder) - by Sheikh Ṣāliḥ Fawzān Host: This questioner says, I request from the esteemed father, Sheikh Ṣāliḥ, to counsel my sister because she has some wiswās; she has three children whom she fears for, such that she does not take them out on trips nor to visit her family, fearing that they may be afflicted by evil eye. Sheikh Fawzān: This is not appropriate; having fear over the children to this degree, this is not legislated, and it is burdensome upon the person. One should place his trust in Allāh, pray for his children to be safe and guided, prevent them from evil gatherings and accompanying evil people, and give them a proper upbringing. This is what is required. Host: He adds, when they go out she makes them wear dirty/shabby clothes, fearing evil eye. Sheikh Fawzān: This is due to wiswās. She has to refrain from that and seek refuge from the evil of mankind and jinn, and nothing will afflict her (in-shā-Allāh). She should seek refuge through the morning and evening adhkār for herself as well as her children.
