BENEFIT 32: DĀRUL ḤADĪTH IN HĀMĪ Seeing as many of the benefits posted in this series are taken from Sheikh Abū Bilāl ḥafidhahullāh, it's only fair that I acquaint you with this man. So for those of you who may be unaware, Sheikh Abū Bilāl ḥafidhahullāh is someone who has spent many years studying in Dammāj; first with Sheikh Muqbil raḥimahullāh, then with his successor, Sheikh Yaḥyā ḥafidhahullāh. But eight years ago approximately, when the Hoothees expelled the students from Dammāj, Sheikh Abū Bilāl returned to his village (Haami) in Ḥaḍhramawt and established his own centre of knowledge; Dārul ḥadīth in Ḥāmī; a Salafi centre of knowledge which now hosts hundreds of students from all over the world. Currently, the Sheikh ḥafidhahullāh teaches 9 classes over the course of the week: 1⃣- Alfiyyatu-bni Mālik (6:20 am every day except Thursday & Friday), 2⃣- Tafsīrul Baghawi (after Dhuhr every day except Friday), 3⃣- Bulūghul Marām (after 'Aṣr every day except Friday), 4⃣- Ṣaḥīḥul Bukhārī (after Maghrib, Saturday - Monday), 5⃣- Miftāḥ Dār As-Sa'ādah (after Bukhāri), 6⃣- Aḥkāmul Qurʿān by Ibnul 'Arabī (after Maghrib, Tuesday - Thursday), 7⃣- Qurratu 'Uyūnil Muwaḥḥidīn by Abdurraḥmān Ibnul Ḥasan (after Aḥkāmul Qurʿān), 8⃣- Kitabuz-Zuhd by Ibnul Mubārak (Fridays after Aṣr), 9⃣- Daf' īhāmil-iḍṭirāb by Ash-Shinqīṭī (Fridays after Maghrib). MANDATORY CLASSES: - Male students (single & married) are required to attend all of the above classes, except Alfiyyah. - they are also required to enrol on the Qurʿān memorisation circles OPTIONAL CLASSES: There are a range of classes in various fields of knowledge, taught by various teachers throughout the year. The centre runs on a 'التعاون على البر والتقوى' (cooperating in goodness and piety) basis, so if ever you require any assistance with anything, you will find someone to assist you in-shā-Allāh. WOMEN'S CLASSES: The main masjid (Masjid Anwar) has a sister's section which hosts the sisters classes. The sister's classes run between 8am - 11am and 4:30pm - Maghrib. There are also weekly reminders for sisters which take place in one of the other Salafi masjids in Ḥāmī. CHILDREN'S CLASSES: Children attend Madrasah from 8 - 11am. HOW DO I ENROL❓ Come to Ḥāmī, seek permission from the Sheikh, find accommodation and begin your studies free of charge. But you must abide by the following conditions: 1- abandon Shirk in all its forms 2- abandon Bid'ah in all its forms 3- display good manners towards your teachers, neighbours and peers 4- attend the mandatory classes, unless you have a valid excuse not to. WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE? South Yemen is generally hot, but ḥāmī is ḥāmī. Nonetheless, Sheikhul Islam raḥimahullāh said: “Severe cold (weather) is a cause of death, in contrast to (severe) heat; for many have died due to the cold, in contrast to the heat; which is something uncommon. For this reason, the 'Arabs used to say: البرد بؤس والحر أذى 'Coldness is misery whereas heat is irritating'.” [Majmū' Al-Fatāwā 16/160]
