Lesson 9 Notes Corrections and Clarifications 14:20 ‘3 cubits’ was a mistake on my part. This is the approximate distance between the feet and the sutrah. The mimininun height of a sutrah is the same as the raised rear part of a saddle (the cantle). “The minimum size of a sutrah is the height of the back of a saddle, which is about the length of the forearm — around two-thirds of a cubit. Any object placed in front of the person praying at that height is sufficient.” [Refer to hadith 771 in Sahih Muslim] 59:00 The head should be in line with the back during rukūʿ. Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) described: ((وَكَانَ إِذَا رَكَعَ لَمْ يُشْخِصْ رَأْسَهُ وَلَمْ يُصَوِّبْهُ، وَلَكِنْ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ)) “When he bowed, he would neither raise his head nor lower it, but rather keep it between the two.” [Muslim 498] 54:36 While the majority of scholars—some even say there is consensus—consider it recommended to recite another surah after Al-Fātiḥah in the first two rak‘ahs, there are some Mālikīs who say it is obligatory to do so in the obligatory prayer. “We do not know of any [disagreement] among the scholars that IT IS recommended to recite a surah in the first two rak‘ahs of every prayer.” https://t.me/masjidsahabah/1917
