BENEFIT 14: DON'T BE PUT OFF TEACHING DUE TO LOW ATTENDANCE, AS THERE MAY BE HUNDREDS MORE IN ATTENDANCE FROM THOSE WHO WE CANNOT SEE Sheikh Wahb Adh-Dhayfani ḥafidahullāh narrated the following incident in one of the Ḥā'iyyah classes: ''O brothers, even the jinn attend the circles of knowledge. Once, we were giving da'wah in one of the villages, and someone who had been possessed by a jinn was brought to us, so some of the brothers performed ruqya on the person until the jinn began speaking. The jinn said, 'I'll leave him. I'll come out and go and seek knowledge with the rest of the students of knowledge in the courtyard.' This was quite odd, because although the masjid had a courtyard, the few students who would attend the classes would sit inside the actual masjid rather than the courtyard. So we asked the jinn, 'what students are your referring to?' It said, 'the students who attend the classes from the jinns.' We didn't believe the jinn straight away as they are known to lie - especially during these circumstances (i.e. When Ruqya is being read in order to expell them from the body). However, the jinn said, 'I hear them saying: قال الإمام البخاري رحمه الله، حدثنا....حدثنا... 'Imām Bukhāri -may Allāh have mercy on him- said: so and so narrated to us, on the authority of so and so...' until the end of the chain. The point we take from this my brothers is, we should never belittle any da'wah effort. So long as you are sincere and calling to the truth, continue upon this path - even if no one attends your classes except one or two students. Perhaps there are tens, or maybe hundreds in attendance from the jin kind. In fact, Sheikh Muqbil raḥimahullāh has an audio recording entitled, 'my advice to the jins,' wherein he admonishes the jinns...''
