BENEFIT 4: CONSISTENCY IS ONE OF THE DISTINGUISHING TRAITS OF THE TRUTHFUL Sheikh Wahb hafidhahullah mentioned the following in today's haaiyyah class: "The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ((لا تزال طائفة من أمتي على الحق ظاهرين لا يضرهم من خذلهم ولا من خالفهم حتى يأتي أمر الله)) There will never cease to be a group from my Ummah triumphant upon the truth. They will not be harmed by those who forsake them nor those who oppose them until Allah's decree comes (i.e. the day of judgement). * This hadeeth is mutawaatir! So there's no doubt whatsoever concerning its authenticity Benefits derived from this hadeeth: 1. We benefit from this hadeeth that the source of victory is in clinging to the truth and that a person is granted victory in accordance to his adherence to the truth. 2. Sheikh (asks the students): What do we benefit from the phrase لا تزال Student: consistency/continuity Sheikh: Yes. The people of truth have never ceased to exist from the time of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and they will continue to exist up until the day of judgement. This (consistency) is one of the distinguishing traits which we can use to determine who is upon the truth. Let's put it to the test. (Sheikh asks the students): did jama'atut tableegh exist at the time of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم? Students: No Sheikh: Did the ikhwanul muslimoon exist at the time of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم? Students: No Sheikh: Neither did the Jahmiyyah, nor the Kullabiyyah, nor the ashaairah, nor the maturudiyyah, nor the soofiyyah. All of these sects came into existence after the passing of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. We can therefore conclude that these sects are not upon the truth, because this hadeeth is not applicable to them. So who does it apply to? It only applies to ahlus-sunnah Wal jama'ah; ahlul hadeeth, i.e. the salafiyyoon; as it is they -and only they- who continue to follow the path of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his companions without any change. 3. Likewise, from the benefits of this hadeeth is that if one does not aid the people of the truth, they become an enemy to the truth and its people. These enemies are divided into two types: a- the enemy from outside (i.e. those who oppose them) And b- the enemies from within (i.e. those who forsake them) and these ones pose a greater danger! But alhamdulilah, either way, their enemies will not harm them in the least, rather, they will continue to be triumphant!
