BENEFIT OF TEACHING:
20 June 2021 • 3.3K views
One of the advantages of teaching is you - as a teacher - are compelled to review and research in preparation for your class. A person requested to give a 15-minute public presentation on a topic they are unfamiliar with is the closest thing I can think of to teaching...the feeling this person goes through is roughly the same feeling a dedicated teacher experiences with almost every lesson. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad thing - on the contrary. In fact, this is what enhances a teacher's experience, understanding & knowledge of the subject matter they are teaching. And this applies to almost every subject matter/science; from the core sciences such as ‘Aqīdah, Tafsīr, Fiqh and ḥadīth, all the way to the complimentary sciences. Although, if a person is naturally well-versed, or has undergone the experience of teaching, or has previously researched the subject matter, then of course the process will be less daunting.

I wrote the above post yesterday intending to post it today, but as I was looking through my messages today, I came across this:

_______
There's an Arabic proverb that says,
بالمثال يتضح المقال
"Statements are made obvious through examples."
So consider the following as an example:
I came across this while preparing the class 3 new words chart:
”ليس في كلام العرب: جمعٌ جُمع ست مرات إلا الجَمَل، فإنهم جمعوا الجَمل أجملا ثم أجمالا ثم جاملا ثم جمالا ثم جِمالة ثم جِمالات (كلاهما بتثليث الجيم) جمع الجمع، لأن أكثر ما يكون الجمع مرتين أو ثلاثا، وهذا ست مرات فهو نادر.“
“It's not found in the speech of the Arabs a plural that can be pluralised upto to six times except for (the word) 'camel' (ٌجَمَل); which they have pluralised to أَجْمُلٌ, then أَجْمَالٌ, then جَامِلٌ, then جِمَالٌ, then ٌجَُِمالَة, and finally ٌجَُِمالَات. This is rare because it has been pluralised 6 times while most plurals are only pluralised upto two or three times.”
It doesn't end there. What I really wanted to convey was the source for this benefit: a book chock-full of rare Arabic-related perks, entitled: (ليس في كلام العرب)...which is also the heading for each benefit.

I don't think the book has been translated yet, so maybe we can share some translations from time to time in-shā-Allāh.
