Al-Hāfidh Abū 'Alī An-Naysābūrī (D. 328 H.) said: "I said to Ibn Khuzaymah, 'If only the Ustadh would narrate from Muhammad ibn Humayd, since Ahmad spoke well of him.' He (Ibn Khuzaymah), may Allah have mercy on him, replied, "He did not know him; and if he had known him as we knew him, he would not have praised him at all.'" [Tahdhib At-Tahdhib] 1. Referring to a teacher as 'Ustadh' 2. Excusing a scholar of Sunnah, in some instances, for praising someone who is unworthy of being praised.
