"2. This putting the poetry of Al-Halabi forth as a benefit was coupled by At-Tahiri calling Al-Halabi a Shaykh in a video which has been spread far and wide on the internet for a number of years. The praise and benefiting from Al-Halabi now is public, so if this is now incorrect, the clarification should also be made public. So it reaches those people the first affair reached." [end quote]
RESPONSE:
In situations like these, the distinction between the wise scholars and the beginner students becomes clear!
There is virtually no connection between Halabi and Sheikh Muhammad Hisham At-Tahiri at this moment in time. We only came to know of this connection due to an old video that one of the brothers dug out for us.
For him to now publicly address Halabi at the request of some youth online, thereby stirring up fitnah, is quite ill-advised.
((الفتنة نائمة لعن الله من أيقظها))
"The fitnah is dormant/inactive; may Allah curse the one who awakens it."
Although the ḥadīth is weak, its meaning remains true (1).
This highlights the danger of instigating or reviving fitnah. It implies that discord, when inactive or contained, should be left undisturbed, as reawakening it can lead to chaos, division, and harm within the community.

(1) When the Prophet ﷺ was bewitched, A'ishah asked, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), why didn't you remove the skin of pollen (that was used to bewitch him)?' He ﷺ replied:
((أَمَا وَاللهِ فَقَدْ شَفَانِي، وَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُثِيرَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ شَرًّا))
"By Allah, He has already healed me, but I dislike stirring evil among the people." [Bukhāri and Muslim]
In another narration:
((فَقَدْ عَافَانِيَ اللهُ))
Currently, the Sheikh is in a state of عافية from the fitnah surrounding Halabi. So, isn't it wiser to suffice with what Abu Atiyyah conveyed and avoid rekindling this fitnah?

The situation is similar to that of Sheikh Yahya and Muhammad Hizam. The latter was known to be one of Sheikh Yahya's prominent students, and the relationship between them was very strong. However, when he deviated with Ashaab Al-Ibānah, did we hear any public announcement from Sheikh Yahya, or did we simply rely on what his students conveyed from him?
